Class 2nd - Science
1. Detailed Introduction
When we look up at the sky during the day, we see the bright Sun. When we look up at night, we see the beautiful Moon and thousands of twinkling stars. The sky looks different during the day and at night.
The Sun: Our Bright Star
The Sun is a huge, hot ball of glowing gases. It is a star that looks big because it is much closer to the Earth than other stars. The Sun rises in the East and sets in the West.
- Light & Heat: The Sun gives us heat and light. Without the Sun, the Earth would be very dark and freezing cold.
- Importance: Green plants need sunlight to make their food. Humans and animals need heat to stay warm.
The Moon: Our Night Companion
The Moon is smaller than the Sun and the Earth. It does not have its own light; it shines because it reflects the light of the Sun. There is no air or water on the moon, so life is not possible there.
Phases of the Moon: The Moon changes its shape every night. Sometimes it looks like a full round ball (Full Moon), and sometimes it looks like a banana (Crescent Moon). On some nights, it cannot be seen at all (New Moon).
