Introduction (परिचय)

Welcome children! In this chapter, we will learn about different sizes, shapes, and positions of things we see around us every day. This helps us understand basic concept words like inside, outside, top, bottom, bigger, smaller, rolling, and sliding.

प्यारे बच्चों! इस अध्याय में हम अपने आस-पास की वस्तुओं के आकार (Shapes) और उनके स्थान (Space) की स्थिति को अच्छे से समझेंगे। जैसे कौन सी चीज़ अंदर है, कौन सी बाहर है, कौन सी बड़ी है और कौन सी छोटी है।

Important Terms To Learn (महत्वपूर्ण शब्द):
  • Inside - Outside (अंदर - बाहर): A bird inside a cage, a dog outside.
  • Bigger - Smaller (बड़ा - छोटा): Comparing sizes between two objects.
  • Top - Bottom (ऊपर - नीचे): A cat sitting at the top of a roof, a ball at the bottom.
  • Nearer - Farther (पास - दूर): Checking which object is close or far away.
  • Rolling & Sliding (लुढ़कना और सरकना): Round things roll (like a ball), flat things slide (like a box).

Example 1: Inside and Outside

Question: Ram is inside the classroom. Shyam is playing in the playground. Who is outside?

Answer: Shyam is playing in the playground, so Shyam is outside.

Example 2: Bigger and Smaller

Question: Out of a Cow and a Squirrel, which animal is smaller?

Answer: A squirrel is very small. So, the Squirrel is smaller.

Example 3: Biggest and Smallest

Question: You have a small berry, an apple, and a big pumpkin. Which one is the biggest?

Answer: The pumpkin is the biggest out of all three.

Example 4: Top and Bottom

Question: A flag is on the top of a building. Where is the main gate?

Answer: The main gate is situated at the bottom of the building.

Example 5: Nearer and Farther

Question: Boat A is near the seashore, Boat B is in deep water. Which boat is farther from the shore?

Answer: Boat B is farther from the shore.

Example 6: Nearest and Farthest

Question: Three apples fall from a tree. Apple 1 is close to the trunk, Apple 3 is very far. Which one is nearest?

Answer: Apple 1 is nearest to the tree trunk.

Example 7: Rolling Objects

Question: If you push a round orange on the floor, will it roll or slide?

Answer: It has a completely round shape, so it will roll.

Example 8: Sliding Objects

Question: If you push your heavy maths textbook on a desk, will it roll or slide?

Answer: A book is flat, so it will slide.

Example 9: Basic 2D Shapes

Question: How many corners does a standard round balloon or a circle have?

Answer: A perfect circle has 0 corners.

Example 10: Shape Identification

Question: What is the shape of a sandwich slice or a traffic signboard with 3 sides?

Answer: It has 3 sides, so it is a Triangle.
