Class 3rd - Science
1. Detailed Introduction
The Sun is the main and ultimate source of energy for our planet Earth. It is a massive star made up of glowing hot gases that constantly gives out energy in two primary forms: Light Energy and Heat Energy. Without the Sun's continuous energy, life on Earth would quickly disappear.
How Different Living Beings Use Solar Energy
- For Plants (Photosynthesis): Green plants capture light energy from the Sun to make their food. This food helps plants grow, and eventually, humans and animals eat these plants.
- For Humans and Animals: The Sun gives us heat to stay warm during cold days. Sunlight is also our body's natural source for creating Vitamin D, which keeps our bones strong.
- The Water Cycle: The heat of the Sun warms up the water in rivers, ponds, and oceans, causing it to change into vapor. This vapor goes high up, forms clouds, and brings back rain.
Solar Energy: The Modern Power
Today, humans use advanced machines called Solar Panels to trap sunlight and instantly convert it into electrical energy (Electricity). We use this solar power to light up houses, run street lamps, cook food in solar cookers, and power calculators.
